Science · Technology · Governance · Environmental Markets
A future in which nature is no longer invisible in economic decisions.
At the Environmental Markets Fairness Foundation, we work to ensure that the value of nature is recognized in decisions, markets and financial flows.
We combine science, technology, governance and collaboration to help ensure that nature is understood, valued and integrated into the decisions of companies, governments and institutions.
Who We Are
Nature sustains the economy, but it still does not hold the place it deserves within it.
Nature sustains our lives, our well-being and our ability to thrive. The resources, systems and balances that make the development of our societies possible all depend on it.
Yet the value of nature is still missing from many of the decisions that affect its future. This disconnect limits our ability to manage risks, guide investment and mobilize resources for the conservation and regeneration of ecosystems.
EMFF exists to help close that gap.
Discover EMFF→Our Vision
“Leading international consulting firms and multilateral banks estimate that half of global GDP depends on nature. So I ask you: what does the other half depend on?
It is hard to imagine that, well into the 21st century, we still fail to understand that all human activity depends, directly or indirectly, on the services nature provides. ”
The Challenge
For too long, the value of nature has been left out of decisions, markets and financial flows. It's time to bring them back together.
Nature conservation and restoration face a funding gap of hundreds of billions of dollars a year, still largely covered by the public sector: a gap that is also a major opportunity to mobilize private capital toward activities with positive environmental outcomes.
Nature finance needs a new architecture of trust built on knowledge, integrity and strong institutions.
Our Response
From understanding nature to transforming markets. Discover our areas of work.
01 Nature Integrity Method™
We integrate ecological science, artificial intelligence, satellite observation, eDNA, MRV systems and governance structures to improve how nature-related projects are designed, measured and verified.
Our goal is for environmental decisions and transactions to be grounded in credible information, robust safeguards and verifiable outcomes.

02 Environmental Markets
Environmental markets are a tool for channeling finance toward nature. We contribute to the development of environmental markets that mobilize resources for the conservation, restoration and sustainable management of ecosystems.
We work to ensure these markets are built on measurable environmental outcomes, reliable methodologies, fairer prices, transparent information and an equitable distribution of benefits.

03 Safeguards
We promote governance models that incorporate transparency, participation, recognition of rights and a fair distribution of benefits.
Environmental markets can only be legitimate if they recognize the role of communities, producers, subnational governments and ecosystem stewards.

04 Global Dialogue
We bring together governments, companies, science, finance, international organizations and civil society to build shared solutions.
Through institutional dialogues, strategic partnerships and participation in international forums, we drive responses that are more responsible, coordinated and consistent with nature.

Nature Integrity Method™
Turning the complexity of nature into evidence that can be demonstrated.
Nature Integrity Method™ (NIM) is a scientific methodology to assess the condition of ecosystems and track how it evolves over time, generating robust, verifiable evidence on the results of conservation and restoration projects.
Global Dialogue
Construimos puentes between institutions
Major environmental challenges require spaces where actors with different visions, responsibilities and interests can come together.
EMFF creates and facilitates institutional dialogues between governments, companies, the scientific community, international organizations and social leaders.
An active voice where the environmental future is shaped
Our presence at the Conferences of the Parties and other global forums allows us to contribute to institutional debate, connect regional initiatives with international agendas and strengthen the voice of historically underrepresented actors.
